Modern Tea Newsletter February 2007 Vol.2

Happenings

Modern Tea opens during weekday mornings in March!

Morning sunlight at Modern Tea is beautiful.  We will be offering freshly made pastries, hot cereal and tea during weekday mornings beginning in March.  Stay tuned for the exact dates - you will start seeing our sandwich board out front when we are ready.  This also means we will have counter pastry service throughout the day while the stock lasts!  Sweet biscuits anyone?

At last...tea events take shape at Modern Tea

From educational to soothing to light hearted to engaging, our events plan to be as varied as tea is itself.  We have decided to host our events on Wednesday nights at 8pm after our first dinner seating.

Tea of the Month

China Green - More people have turned to this tea as a gentler, more grounded way to recharge.  Simple, clean flavor that re-steeps well.

Events will be by reservation only please call or click on the specific event below that you would like to attend to reserve online.  While most events will have some kind of nibble or dessert, if you'd like to join us for dinner before hand, please let us know as well so that we can hold a seat for you(regular menu costs aply).

Here is a synopsis of what we are offering beginning in just a few weeks!

Myths and Legends of Tea

Please join us for armchair style conversation, dessert and tea with the leading expert on tea in America!  We have waited until James Norwood Pratt, auther of The New Tea Lover's Treasury, was able to clear his calendar to launch our first tea event.  We value his amazing storytelling ability and how he always helps us with our understanding and enjoyment of tea and tea lore.  For this event, our subject will be on the stories around tea, the factual, the fictional and the intertwined combinations from generations of retelling.  We will keep it relaxed and open for questions and lively discussion.

When:       Wednesday, February 28th @ 8:00 p.m.

Menu:       Dessert (citrus buttermilk pudding cake) and two kinds of tea (one black and one herbal).

Cost:        $25 per person

Capacity:  30 people

Introduction To Tea Series: Our Hands On Approach To Tea

Ever wanted to get a vision of the spectrum of tea in one sitting?  At this event we will clear up your confusion with what makes a tea a black tea, oolong tea, green tea & white tea using a lively assemblage of teas & tea "impedimenta."  You will be able to see, taste and make.  Unlike any other introduction to tea, this is how we like to learn about tea.  This will be a general event, with future events focusing on individual classes of tea.

When:      Wednesday, March 14th @ 8:00 pm

Menu:       An array of teas.  Various sweet & savory light nibbles.

Cost:        $35 per person

Capacity:  20 people

      RSVP Here

Professional Tasting Series

Taste teas like a professional.   Each Professional Tasting event will compare the same type of teas from different gardens or several teas within a class the way a professional would using professional tasting cups.  Come be our professional and give us your opinion.  Who knows?  You might be selecting the next tea to go on our menu.

When:      Wednesday, March 28th @ 8:00 pm

Menu:       TBD

Cost:        $35 per person

Capacity:  20 people
